  • enercon, the energy conservators, developers, innovators and makers of Green Building Products, developed a spearheading green technology call INSULITTE (Using Agrowaste), introduces PERLICON (expanded Perlite based concrete)
  • Perlite is not a trade name but a generic term for naturally occurring siliceous rock. The distinguishing feature which sets perlite apart from other volcanic glasses is that when heated to a suitable point in its softening range, it expands from four to twenty times its original volume.
  • This expansion is due to the presence of two to six percent combined water in the crude perlite rock. When quickly heated to above 1600°F (871°C), the crude rock pops in a manner similar to popcorn as the combined water vaporizes and creates countless tiny bubbles which account for the amazing light weight and other exceptional physical properties of expanded perlite.
  • Demand for good quality Expanded Perlite in India has been showing an upward trend.
  • With only a few suppliers and manufactures , with limited capacities, to meet the growing needs, many companies have been relying on imported Expanded Perlite. Keeping this in mind enercon has ventured into manufacturing HIGH QUALITY EXPANDED PERLITE. which is widely used for insulation /light fill purposes
MIXING PROCEDURE :
  • PERLICON C concrete shall be mixed mechanically /manually in cement in mixing ratio recommended below , to produce uniform distribution of the materials with a suitable consistency and the required as cast unit weight For loose fill : 1:8 (Cement : Perlicon) by volume Roof screed : 1:6 (Cement : Perlicon) by volume

NOTE:Compressive Strength upto only 8-10 kg/cm2 , will be achieved using above mentioned mix ratio. To gain higher strength , add a dosage of admixture recommended by company / manufacturer

  • 1.7 KG CEMENT
  • 700 GMS perlicon
  • WATER = 2.0 – 2.5 LTR
  • WILL COVER APPROX : 1 SQ FT
  • 1 BAG CEMENT = 50 KG
  • 2 BAG perlicon = 20 KG
  • WATER = 55 - 57 LTR
  • WILL COVER APPROX :26 - 28 SQ FT

Note : The coverage may vary depending on the density of the cement/perlicon and the quantity of water used.

APPLICATIONS OF PERLICON:

Construction:

  • Because of perlite's outstanding insulating characteristics and light weight, it is widely used as a loose-fill /wall /roof / over deck insulation

Horticultural:

  • Perlite is used throughout the world as a component of soil less growing mixes where it provides aeration and optimum moisture retention for superior plant growth. For rooting cuttings, 100% perlite is used. Studies have shown that outstanding yields are achieved with perlite hydroponic systems.
